Poll: Workers' Party of Christian Democrats Lose

Amsterdam (ANTARA News / Reuters) - The Dutch Labour Party (PvdA) suffered the defeat of Christian Democrats (CDA) in a poll conducted Friday night, marking the fierce battle between Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, leader of the CDA and PvdA Job Cohen's new leader in elections on June.

PvdA, leading in the polls a month ago after Cohen announced at the party's leadership see the number of seats that may reach down to three to 30 while the CDA won by one to 29 last week, according to Synovate Politieke Barometer survey.

Exit polls from the Maurice de Hond on Wednesday showed Labour ahead with 33 seats, followed by the Liberals (VVD) with 28 seats and the Christian Democrats with 26 seats.
