Bring Knives and Guns, U.S. Citizens Arrested

CAIRO, KOMPAS.com - Egyptian security forces detained a passenger who arrived at Cairo airport from New York, Wednesday, after finding guns, bullets and knives in her purse, said an airport official told AFP.

Ibrahim Mohamed Marei, a U.S. professor of Egyptian descent, arrived with Egyptair flight from JFK airport in New York.

The officers observed the customs of passengers who looked nervous and they then decided to open his bag.

"Officers found two handguns and 250 bullets hidden in a metal box," said the official who did not want to be named.

"In a secret place in your bag, the officers also found two swords, daggers five and six knives," he added.

According to local officials, the investigation is still underway to explore it.
