DKI decides to grant civil servants One Book One
Jakarta (ANTARA) - To commemorate the 483 anniversary of Jakarta, local government grants and launched a movement book bazaar "One Book One Civil Servants."
"The movement would indeed grant this book starts from the ranks of civil servants at provincial government of DKI Jakarta as a pioneer menghibahkan books for the needy," said Chief BPAD Maman Achdiat DKI, Jakarta, Monday.
The movement was in line with the request of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Fauzi Bowo for every civil servant to donate at least one book in the program that was held in cooperation with the National Library and Regional Archives (BPAD) and the Association of Indonesian Publishers (IKAPI).
According to Maman, the results of a survey of the UN development agency (UNDP), which expressed interest in reading the position of the Indonesian nation is at number 96 became one of the triggers incessant Jakarta Government to promote community interest in reading.
Having opened on Monday, the movement will continue until Wednesday (2 / 6) and is expected to contribute more than 4000 copies of the book.
Last year, a similar event to collect as many as 2666 copies of the book are granted to the Community Reading Garden (TBM) in the Thousand Islands, Senen Village, SD Al-Ijtihadiyah Foundation and the Library of Dharma Wanita DKI Jakarta Province.
Grant movement symbolically begins the book by the Regional Secretary (Secretary) Muhayat Jakarta Province who also donated some books in boxes provided by the organizers.
"I began this movement by providing several books, among other historic books about Betawi," said Muhayat.
He hoped that the book grants movement can contribute significantly to increasing public interest in reading which would then improve the quality of human resources in Jakarta.
