Singapore Women Team Beat China
Moscow (ANTARA News / Reuters) - Chinese Support shocked after their daughter's team could not win the gold medal at the World Championship table tennis team for the first time since 1991.
China trio consisting of Ding Ning, Guo Yan and Liu Shiwen defeated by Singapore in the final in Moscow, Sunday, becoming the first title for the Southeast Asian countries at the event.
Ding and Liu both have never played in the tournament and coach Shi Zhihao assume that this is the reason for the failure of China's startling to win the title of the ninth consecutive year.
"We brought some young players to Moscow. Not one of them experienced when playing in the finals," said Shi told Xinhua News Agency after the defeat.
"That is, we lost by our own, by the immaturity. Children should take lessons from it for the life of their career."
Edy Tay, Manager of Singapore said that the confidence shown trio Feng Tianwei, Wang and Sun Bei Bei Yuegu after its defeat in the 2008 Summer Olympics and World Cup final against China is the key to victory.
"Often, when we met them in the final we lost 3-0, 3-1. But we talked to them (Singaporean players) that one day we can beat them," said Tay told Channel News Asia.
"When we came out (for the medal ceremony). We were all crying and they were lost for words. They do not believe (they won)."
But these defeats did not last long, the son of China's team returned to give happiness to the supporters after defeating Germany 3-1, Sunday, and confirmed the fifth consecutive title.
