Governor: 160 Kilometers Shoreline Affected Louisiana Oil Spill
Houston (ANTARA / Oana) - Oil Spill in Louisiana has reached more than 160 kilometers of coastline of the U.S. states, said governor Bobby Jindal, on Wednesday.
Jindal, in comments broadcast live by CNN, the federal government condemned as "too little, too late" in reacting to oil spills which are many and scattered by the blast at the oil drilling rig off the coast of Louisiana, the end of April.
Wednesday morning, the Louisiana state government estimates that approximately 72.4 miles of Louisiana coastline was affected by the spill. Jindal said he received the most recent estimates of the affected coastline Wednesday.
"We had no time to wait," said Jindal.
Louisiana officials have asked the federal government to approve state plans to build a dike to protect the marshland in Louisiana, where fish and other animal life, including some endangered animals.
