G20 summit to Perform Financial Reform
WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.com - U.S. President, Barack Obama, Friday, requesting a meeting of world leaders at the G20 summit in Toronto this weekend to fight for financial reform, spur growth and strengthen the global economy.
Obama noted that the meeting this weekend in Canada's business center is the third summit meeting of G20 developed countries and developing since he was last year, and will be preceded by the summit the G8 rich nations. He said previous meetings have attracted global economy back from the brink of disaster and strengthening the struggle for a balanced growth.
"This weekend in Toronto and I hope we could develop this progress by coordinating our efforts to improve economic growth, the pursuit of financial reform, and strengthen the global economy," Obama said in the White House as quoted by AFP.
"We must act together for a simple reason: The crisis has proved and continues to assert that the events of our national economy closely linked. And as the economic turmoil in one place can quickly spread to others. Securing in every country we can help protect all nations.
