Lebanese Hold Israeli spy suspect
Beirut, KOMPAS.com - Police arrested a Lebanese Palestinian refugee on suspicion of spying Mossad, Israel's intelligence agency.
"We have arrested a Palestinian refugee camp of Burj al Shemali we suspected spies Israeli intelligence," said a police spokesman who would not mention his name, Friday (25 / 6), told AFP. "He has a sophisticated communications tool and are now detained for questioning," she added, without explaining further.
Burj al Shemali, one of 12 refugee camps, located about five kilometers in the eastern coastal city of Tyre, Lebanon's south. More than 70 people have been arrested in one operation across the country regarding the Israeli spy network that carried out April 2009, some of them members of the police and security officials.
A number of those arrested were important officials, including a retired security bodies in February and sentenced to death for being a spy and his involvement in the assassination of two leaders of the Palestinian fighters. Israel did not comment on the arrests.
Lebanon and Israel are still technically at war, and they are proven to be a spy against the law to life in prison with hard labor. Those sentenced to death if proven cause of deaths for the citizens of Lebanon.
