Singapore Film Festival is expected So "Cannes" of Asia

Singapore (ANTARA News / Reuters) - Singapore hopes to become the "Cannes" Asian version in 2011 while holding a film festival "SceenSingpore", that will show the movie first major film prapertunjukkan Asia and the United States.

Organizers said the film festival is expected to attract A-class Hollywood actress is scheduled to take place in June between the Cannes film festival in France and a summer film festival in Hollywood.

"Asia will become the main source of growth in film and entertainment business in the future when the industry moved from the U.S. market to the region outside the United States," said the president "ScreenSingapore" Greg Coote.

"Big studios have looked at Asia for expansion opportunities to the young and attractive market," he explained.

"As a gateway that provides a springboard for the Asian region, Singapore's infrastructure and strong leadership, in establishing a liaison for digital distribution, ensuring the right decision to hold this great event," he added.

"ScreenSingapore" will be held for seven nights and aims to serve as the basis for the film-makers and business people to sell and purchase content, ideas and technology.

"We hope to promote collaboration between East and West. For example, connecting filmmakers to the media, funders, and also make the media more Asian and Asian content for world consumption," said Director of Communications Media Development Authority of Singapore, Cassandra Tay.
