Apkomindo: PC Sales Grow 20 Percent in 2010

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sales of personal computers (PCs) in Indonesia is still projected to remain high on the level of 20 percent per year, in line with the continued improvement in national economic conditions.

"The growth of computers could reach 20 percent," said Chairman of the Foundation of Indonesian Computer Business Association (Apkomindo), Hidayat Tjokrowidjojo, on the sidelines of the Indonesia Cellular Show (ICS) and the Indonesian Computer Festival (ICF) in 2010, in Jakarta Convention Center, Wednesday.

According to records, in the year 2009 total sales of PCs to reach 2.8 million units.

According to Hidayat, although the percentage of sales is good, but in some types of computers has decreased.

Yet he did not specify the estimated decline in sales on a particular type of computer.

He just explained, the decline due to the fast-changing computer model.

According to him, at first only the shape of a desktop computer, but now has turned to a laptop, netbook, and tablet PCs.

"Anyway, the computer forms the smaller, lightweight and easy to carry anywhere (mobile)," he said.

He added that if the desktop can be sold until the first two million per year, currently only around 1 million units.

"PC users living alone rose an office that leads to a computerized system in operation. Consumers personally prefer a netbook," he said.
