Flash - Greenpeace ship blocking pontoon RAPP
Pekanbaru (ANTARA) - Dozens of Greenpeace activists blocked the pontoon boat PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), laden natural wood harvested from the company's concession in Kampar Peninsula peat swamp forests, Pelalawan regency, Riau, at around 6:00 pm Thursday.
Action involves as much as 25 activists who dare to climb as high as about 15 meters pontoon.
According to Greenpeace Southeast Asia Campaigner, Zulfahmi, the action is a protest against the policy of the forestry minister who issued 17 permits cutting in 2010.
"Permission granted logging of natural forests is equivalent to 112 thousand hectares. It threatens the forest moratorium GoI plans to reduce the release of carbon from deforestation by agreement with the Norwegian government," said Zulfahmi.
