President: Traditional Markets to be maintained

Liputan6.com, Surabaya: The existence of traditional markets must be maintained because one of the people driving the economy. "It should be guarded existence of traditional markets," said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his speech at the National Cooperatives Day commemorations in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday (15 / 7).

The President explained that the traditional market is one place for small and medium businesses and cooperatives to market products they produce. Maintaining the traditional market means to maintain the continuity of the activities of cooperatives and SMEs that in fact is the driver of the national economy.

History proves, the existence of cooperatives and small and medium enterprises are able to make Indonesia rose and survived the crisis. President Yudhoyono explained that local government should do is to organize and improve the quality of traditional markets, especially in terms of order and cleanliness. (ANT / FRI)
