Bomb Exploded, 40 Prisoners escape
Aden, KOMPAS.com - A bomb exploded at the prison Dalea province, southern Yemen, Thursday (1/4/2010) wounded four prisoners and about 40 prisoners fled, said a government official.
Eyewitnesses and media in the south said that all who escaped from prison was a member of the southern Yemeni separatist movement, which opposes the administration of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
In this month's clashes between security forces and separatist groups increased. Analysts said that Yemen could face action from the southern rebellion unless the government deal with them seriously.
North Yemen and South Yemen merged in 1990, but many in the south accused the north seize their natural resources and discriminatory actions against them.
Meanwhile, in southern Yemen, an activist was shot dead and three others injured when security forces disperse a protest in the city of Radfan, Lahej province.
Western countries and Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil exporter, worried that Al Qaeda cause instability in the region and beyond.
