BANTUL, KOMPAS.com - Monitoring of mosquito larva or jumantik a breakthrough effort to reduce cases of dengue in the district of Bantul. Each family head is expected to play a jumantik, in charge of checking every puddle of water in the household.

"If jumantik can work actively and effectively it can be eradicated mosquito eggs before they hatch. The cycle of this mosquito from egg to become adult mosquitoes is 7-10 days," said Head of Communicable Disease Prevention Division District Health Office in Bantul, drg Maya Sintowati, Thursday ( 1/4/2010)

Principles of DHF control is an effective mosquito eradication and efficient. In Bantul Jumantik initiated in each family, with a Family Self Jumantik (CTR).

CTR consists of personnel in one family whose job it is to conduct monitoring and eradication of mosquito larvae continuously in their homes and carried out independently. The hope, free of mosquito numbers could reach 95 percent. Year 2009 cases of DHF in Bantul were 589 cases with 2 deaths.
