When Celebration of Good Friday Earthquake rattles Padang
Liputan6.com, Kildare: An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter Scale (SR) rocked the city of Padang, West Sumatra, Friday (2 / 4) morning. Earthquake occurs when Christians commemorate Good Friday or commemorate the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Based on data Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Padang, the quake centered at 1.83 south latitude and 100.38 east longitude, or 95 kilometers south of Padang with a depth of 40 km.
Many residents do not feel the earthquake. "I do not feel the slightest earthquake with a strength of 4.6 Richter," said Aguswan, residents of Kampung Pondok, as quoted by Antara.
In separate places, Manager Disaster Management Coordinating Unit Ade Edwar in Padang West Sumatra, said the quake centered 95 km south of Padang were not potentially rsunami. "The weak magnitude earthquake caused no damage whatever," he said. (ANS)
