11 People Killed In Accident Romanian Military Aircraft
Bucharest (ANTARA News / AFP) - An old military plane carrying paratroopers Romania for training mission crashed minutes after takeoff, killing 11 people and wounding three others, Monday, officials said.
Three men managed to jump from the Soviet-made plane that was before the old plane crashed and burned near the Tuzla airport, witnesses said.
"Tim rescuers found 11 bodies in the plane," said Claudiu Palaz, head of the Constanta area, quoted by Mediafax news agency.
Head of local hospitals, Marian Beciu, also said that prosecutors and police had counted 11 people killed.
The defense ministry said earlier that 10 people were killed and three others wounded.
AN-2 aircraft, whose wings are two and has one engine, crashed and burned, the ministry said.
The three people who were injured were taken to a local hospital, one of them in a coma, medical sources said.
The cause of the accident is still unknown, but the defense ministry has formed an investigative commission.
