HP: Palm for 'smartphones', Tablet, and 'Netbook'
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Palm fate in the hands of Hewlett-Packard (HP) finally declared clear after the complete acquisition process, on Thursday (07/01/2010). WebOS platform which is the most advanced portfolio of man-made Palm HP to be used in a variety of product lines.
"Palm will retain responsibilities in software development and product-based WebOS WebOS from smartphone (smart phone) to your PC Slate (tablets) and netbooks," the official A statement of HP. Palm business unit will be under the Personal Systems Group, HP and is expected to boost HP's market share in smart phone business and other mobile devices are worth 100 billion U.S. dollars.
This confirms speculation that HP would make WebOS as the main platform for mobile business (mobile devices), such as PDAs and tablet ever developed / Slate is still a prototype stage. Working closely with Microsoft to use Windows platform in the smart phone and tablet became unclear.
For information, Palm agreed to acquired HP worth 1.2 billion dollars on 28 April after the company has continued to suffer losses.
