Close First Carrefour store in China

Xi `an, China (ANTARA News / Xinhua-Oana) - Carrefour, the world's second largest retail store, will close his shop in Shaanxi Province on July 28, which is the first time after 15 years developing his wings in the country's bamboo curtain.

Carrefour spokesman Chen Bo said China, the move is an adjustment strategy for the development of French companies in China, and China is still regarded as a priority market.

But some among the local residents alleged that the closure was indicated poor performance of retail stores in Xi `an, capital of Shaanxi Province.

"Carrefour's retail shop in Xi` an does not offer some options, especially when providing fresh foods, "said Dong Hua, a local resident.

A number of other people there also said that the problems faced by Carrefour is a problem location, management and service quality.

But company spokesman confirmed that Carrefour will continue to expand its wings in China, which is planned for this year will be open again from 20 to 25 new stores.

Carrefour first came to China in 1995 and since then has opened 150 stores in over 40 cities in the most populous country in the world.
