Mustafa: Ready SOE Governance inalum
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Ministry of State Enterprises expects two state companies, PT Krakatau Steel and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, could become the manager of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (inalum) after the contract as the majority owner of Japan ended in 2013.
"I as Minister of SOEs, SOE wants if you can manage it," said Mustafa Abubakar, Minister of State Owned Enterprises Ministry Office in Jakarta, Monday (03/05/2010).
After receiving the visit of Japan's Ambassador to Indonesia Kojiro Shiojiri, Mustafa said, inalum management of post-2013 discussions ongoing between the Ministry of Economic Affairs commissioned the Office of the Ministry of Industry to discuss directly with the Japanese side.
"In principle, I support the nationalization of these companies, so that we can manage with passion and new management," said Mustafa.
Japan is now controlled 58.9 percent stake in Nippon Asahan inalum through Alumminium (NAA). Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has only 41.1 percent. NAA 50 percent of shares controlled by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and 50 percent owned by Japanese private.
