Sign WebOS opportunity and Netbook Tablet

Palo Alto, KOMPAS.com - Hewlett Packard (HP) is optimistic that can expand its market share in mobile computing products (mobike computing) by acquiring Palm. It is said to be one of the HP Executive Todd Bradley as the acquisition announced on Wednesday (28/04/2010).

"Among smartphone, Slate (tablet computers), and netbooks, there are many opportunities there. By investing in the WebOS, we can make these devices more attractive than they are today," Bradley said in a conference call from Palo Alto, California, U.S. reported by Engadget.

When asked whether HP will use the device that sailed WebOS is wider than the smartphone that, Bradley did not want to affirm. He says it is still the focus to complete the acquisition process before the set target of development.

"It is undeniable that if we consider the possibility of making similar products, but not yet discussed now," he replied diplomatically. By joining Palm, HP has a product portfolio which is equivalent to heavy competition in the mobile computing market today such as Google and Apple.

HP agreed to acquire all shares of Palm with a price 5.7 U.S. dollars per share, so the total acquisition value reached 1.2 billion U.S. dollars. The agreement was announced Wednesday (28/04/2010) and the acquisition process is expected to be completed on July 31, 2010.
