Newspapers in Kuwait Closed due to crisis

KUWAT CITY, KOMPAS.com - Arabic-language newspaper in Kuwait, Al-Lay, Monday (3 / 5), said financial difficulties forced it to stop rising daily.

Newspapers said in a statement said Monday's edition is the last edition and the management has informed to all journalists and employees about the closure decision. "Management has reached an agreement with the journalists and employees for the closure of these newspapers," the statement said.

The newspaper Al-Awan is an Arabic newspaper in both the oil-rich Gulf countries that are closed due to the global financial crisis affected. Kuwait has 17 national newspapers, and newspapers were considered critical of various issues ranging from politics to social life.

In the annual survey, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States notes that Kuwait is ranked top in terms of press freedom in affairs between the countries in the Middle East.
