Australia warns its citizens travel to Bangkok
Canberra (ANTARA News / Xinhua-Oana) - Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith Friday said the government would continue to urge Australians not to travel to Bangkok because of ongoing violence there.
Foreign Minister Smith said that although most members of the group of protestors "red dress" has been disbanded, but the atmosphere of Thailand's capital city was still tense.
"The situation in Thailand is still dangerous and very stressful," Smith told reporters in Perth.
"Society can estimate that the incidence of violence was still going to continue to increase," he said.
Smith said the Australians in Bangkok should avoid places which made the protestors as a gathering place or a military incursion.
Although the government urged Australians to visit Bangkok, but the land of kangaroos that allows travelers to visit Thailand to another place, said Smith.
Meanwhile, the Australian government continues to urge all parties in Thailand for talks to resolve the issue peacefully, "he said.
"Only the Thai people themselves who can solve their problems," said Minister Smith.
Australian Embassy in Bangkok is still closed to visitors but to continue to assist Australians in the country by telephone.
