Jakarta - Commander of Special Operations Command Pacific (Special Operations Command Pacific / SOCPAC) United States (U.S.), Rear Admiral Sean Pybus, who recently visited Jakarta, had never said that the U.S. will soon restore cooperation with the Special Forces Command ( Kopassus) TNI AD, as reported by some media in Indonesia.

Thus said the Embassy (embassy) in Jakarta U.S.. In a press statement released Friday, May 21, 2010, the U.S. Embassy confirmed that the press reports are inaccurate.

"Pybus penah not say that the United States will soon restore cooperation with Kopassus. The U.S. government was reviewing its policy of Kopassus, but until now has not made a decision about it," according to the U.S. Embassy.

The U.S. Government continues to urge the Indonesian Government to investigate in a transparent manner alleged human rights violations carried out by members of the Armed Forces, including Special Forces, and to prosecute the perpetrators.

Earlier this week, Pybus has been met with a number of Indonesian officials in Jakarta to discuss the US-Indonesia military relations. (Mt)
